Once your periodontic health has been evaluated, your periodontist will work with you to determine the different options for the best treatment to attack your disease and bring your health back.
Depending upon how advanced the disease is, the treatment can vary enormously. If it is detected at first stages, easy procedures are performed to remove plaque and tartar under the gum and thus eliminate bacteria that cause infection. If this disease has advanced to the point that periodontal pockets are deep and support bone has been lost, greater treatment will be required.
Whatever treatment is required, the aim is to give you a good oral health back and to keep it.

Supportive Periodontal Treatment (SPT)
Once diseases have been beaten, the patients are regularly examined to give them periodontal support treatments. This stage of the treatment will let your periodontist to evaluate your periodontic health and to be sure the infection is under control.
During the SPT, the experts examine your mouth, remove tartar and plaque and, if necessary, they polish the teeth and check the bite.
Periodontic diseases are chronic diseases, as diabetes. Without a careful and constant treatment, diseases can be back and they constantly do.
